Hey everyone,
Clubs was a feature we introduced to the Brick News website in early 2023, which allowed site members to engage with other members and also receive updates on LEGO set leaks, news, build competitions and more. However, with the recent introduction of the forums, I feel that the Clubs part of the website is now obsolete.
Forums allows our members to create posts under multiple categories, search for posts, filter, create polls, share images and more. It also has a better navigation system than what our Clubs system provides.
I wanted to create this post to gather thoughts on phasing out Clubs in case there were members who are against the phasing out of Clubs, or who want certain Clubs to stay. If you have any thoughts or feedback on the matter, please comment below. If the majority of site members are on board with the change, or don't particularly care, we will phase out Clubs and instead put our full focus into the Forums.
It's also worth noting some Clubs have existing Forum categories, and we will introduce more categories if we do proceed to phase out Clubs.
Thank you for your time and feedback.
Clubs and Forums have such a massive use-overlap that having both is redundant. The redundancy also creates risk for things like competition entries that might be missed because they're posted to the wrong place. I'd suggest picking one and committing to it. I lean towards Forums just because members have more flexibility to create distinct threads etc than the Clubs system
