This is the official Photography Competition submission thread. If you would like to know more about this competition, head here for more information. Submissions can be submitted until Monday, 24th February at 3:30pm AEST.
General Information:
This competition is being held to help Brick News Pty Ltd gather photos to use as decoration on the official Brick News website. Entrants should be aware any photos they submit may be used by Brick News for decoration purposes. Images on the website will not be sold to third parties.
We encourage entrants to include their social media handles so that we can credit them. Photo submissions with the photographer's watermark are welcome - if doing this please include the watermark on the right-hand side of the image, preferably middle right or bottom right.
This competition is free-to-enter and no subscription plan is required. Purchasing a subscription will not favour you during the judging process.
Rules:
All photos submitted as entries must be submitted by the original photographer. If plagiarism or theft of images is detected, the user involved will be disqualified and may have their Brick News account terminated.
By submitting photos to this competition, you agree that they can be used on the Brick News website for decoration purposes regardless of whether you win a prize.
Photos submitted in this competition can be new photos OR old photos taken in the past. Third party lighting kits are allowed.
Editing of photos is allowed (for example, Lightsaber FX or other adjustments) however the more natural the photo looks, the more favourably it will be looked at.
Stick to one theme - you can pick from any existing LEGO theme, including popular ones such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Ninjago, DC, Marvel and others.
A minimum of one photo and maximum of 10 photos applies per entry.
Only one entry is permitted per person.
The competition is hosted in Australia. Prizes will be shipped to prize winners in jurisdictions outside of Australia, as long as free-to-enter competitions are permitted in that jurisdiction.
Entries that include illegal content will be deleted and result in the termination of your Brick News account.
Tips:
Submit photos taken in landscape format - portrait photos do not work well on the Brick News website and this will affect judging criteria.
Make your images bright and/or colourful - dark images will clash with the Brick News black background.
Include cool Easter eggs in your photos for a better chance of winning. Humour, action and mystery will also help you.
Prizes:
1st Place: LEGO 75389 Star Wars: The Dark Falcon
3 Runner Ups: One LEGO set each, depending on the theme of the submissions. Minimum set value $50 AUD, maximum set value $100 AUD. If there are no sets that fit this criteria in the theme, the runner-up can nominate a different theme for the prize.
Good luck to all of our entrants! We look forward to seeing your submissions.
This competition is now closed. I will be judging the entries and will announce the winners later this week.
Thank you to everyone who entered, there were a lot of awesome entries into this competition and it's going to be tough to pick out the top entries. I will be contacting winners individually to discuss prize arrangements as well.
Hey everyone. My unusual entry for this cool contest is Terminator: Rise of the Lego Machines! I have been collecting enough parts from various themes such as City, Star Wars, and the Lego Movie to make the frightening Terminator future war come to life! The idea came to me to use the parking garage placed in a city setting as the ideal battle ground often seen in the movies and video games.
I challenged myself to add in many details such as damaged infrastructure, fire effects, skeletons, and destroyed vehicles. All important to selling a bleak human existence post Judgement Day. This whole build represents the most effects I have ever used in one go! 3rd party lighting kits, a fog machine, and a violet blue laser combined to give a scary atmosphere!
I really wanted to make a giant Skynet vehicle like the tracked tank, but did not have time. However, I built many T-800 models, 2 rather imposing T-600 machines, a Spider Bot (for fans of the Resistance video game), and a flesh covered T-800 infiltrator. For the human faction I included some young survivor kids, a gritty man with his dog, a fleeing survivor caught in the cross fire, and a Tech-Com squad who despite their best efforts to hold the line are vastly out numbered and outgunned. They will have to retreat to fight another day against Skynet!
Here's my entry hope you like
Here’s some miscellaneous photos I took! I hope you guys enjoy 😄
Those are some awesome pics! Hoping to get some time to put a couple of pics in myself but something tells there’s no competition against pics like that
Various photos from the last few months then all the way back to 4 and a half years ago. It was hard to narrow it down to 10 but I hope you all enjoy.
Loving seeing all the great photos entered from you all

Hi Brick friends! Hope you enjoy my images - tough competition for this one; great to see such interest and the fantastic efforts. My build is the Mushroom House from the Bricklink Designer Program. It was such a fun build and used lots of NPU (nice part usage) and secrets. Would 100% destroy and rebuild again for the fun of it.
It doesn’t get much better than the original. Always hoping for a great watch in the new ones :)
First time entrant, long time Jurassic Park fan, big time Lego fan. Please enjoy!
The camera was actually a basic android phone. It was the atmosphere, weather, and sun angle that made them that good! Real life pretty much looked that way.
Please enjoy my entry, "The Third Wheel" collection! I took these photos in the misty mountains of Utah as fog set in the sky. This made for a pretty cool effect to capture this courtship!
