LEGO Star Wars August Sets Leak

About 2 months ago we released a full list of LEGO Star Wars leaks which included set numbers, names and estimated pricing. We're happy to say that several of these sets are now confirmed thanks to European franchise JB Spielwaren. Note that the pricing in this article is still estimated and subject to change.

75360 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter - 1st August - $59.99 AUD

To start of with, let's knock this set out of the way. It's a pretty simple remake of a set that come out several years ago. If you missed it, this is a good opportunity to pick it up. It's small, accurate and includes Yoda and R2-D2.

75365 Yavin IV Base - 1st August - $279.99 AUD

Moving on, we have possibly the most exciting set of the leaks, the Yavin IV Rebel Base. This set will be a warm addition to fans of the original trilogy - and very first Star Wars movie: A New Hope.

While the set is aimed more towards children, the minifigure selection includes a number of good figures (some of which are exclusive) that will help to expand existing fans' collections. If you're new to LEGO Star Wars, this is also a great set to pick up if you'd like to get the 6 main heroes from the original trilogy (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, C3PO and R2-D2).

2023 Advent Calendar

Up next, a set we didn't expect to see leaked so early... the 2023 Advent Calendar! Advent calendars have always been a great way for fans to collect some special minifigures, with LEGO consistently including special Christmas prints we'd never otherwise see.

This year, the advent calendar will include several minifigures, notably a 212th trooper, Omega from The Bad Batch, Palpatine in an exclusive Christmas sweater, Forest-Moon Leia and an exclusive white Christmas Ewok!

75359 332nd Ahsoka's Clone Trooper Battle Pack - 1st September - $33 AUD

Finally, let's get into our most controversial set. Previously thought to be titled Republic Swamp Speeder, this set does actually feature a Republic Swamp Speeder build, albeit tiny in comparison to its predecessor. The build is likely smaller to bring the price down, as it's expected fans will want to pick up multiple of these to build their army... or was expected. Let's get into more detail.

The 332nd clone troopers were introduced for Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 on Disney+. And while these troopers did sport a special orange paintjob on their helmets, it didn't include a thick black line above the visor. LEGO YouTuber mandrproductions was quick to point this out on his Instagram story shortly after the set leaked.

The new battle pack also continues to put helmet holes on clone troopers that do not need them, in what appears to be an attempt to give kids an extra play feature, despite not including any extra pieces in the set to allow kids to utilize those holes. Many adult collectors already expressed their disappointment in previous sets - such as the AT-TE and the 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack from January of this year, for including these holes.

While there are many fans who simply don't care about the holes, it has been disheartening for collectors who don't want the glaring gaps in their clone trooper helmets, making them inconsistent with previous iterations of clone troopers from LEGO Star Wars. At least for the troopers that do need the holes in their helmets, fans have no issue as the attachments usually cover the holes up.

For those who don't care about the holes, this will be a great set to pick up in bulk to create a large army of 332nd troopers. It's also unlikely that they'll show up again much in future sets due to their only appearance being in a few episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which had its season finale premier in 2020.

The set will ultimately do just fine as parents and children alike may be unlikely to care for the inaccurate helmets, but for fans that have been criticising LEGO both on social media and via set reviews on LEGO's own website, this may have put the nail in the coffin.
