Letter from the Director, August 2024

Hey there!

It's Frase, the director of Brick News, and I've got some exciting announcements to go through. There's a few things to unpack in this letter, so I'll break it down into multiple sections.

Free-to-Enter Barad-dûr Draw Launches on the 1st of October 2024

During the month of October our site users will be able to sign up for a monthly subscription, with the first month being completely free! Normally, users will be billed immediately when signing up for a monthly subscription, but October we will be hosting our first ever free month. Users will still need to provide their credit or debit card details in order to sign up for the subscription, but will not have to pay until their first month rolls over in November, 2024.

As always, we allow our members to cancel their subscription at any time through their account settings without needing to phone or email us. We don't like lock-in contracts and we want you to be in control of your subscription 24/7. Barad-dûr will be the grand prize during this month, valued at $700 AUD.

"But Frase, I already have a monthly/quarterly subscription and I'm getting billed again in October, what about me?" Good question - anyone that has an active Brick News subscription prior to October 2024 and continues their subscription into October will be entered into a bonus draw. While we haven't decided on all of the prizes in this bonus draw, it will include LEGO 75389 Star Wars: The Dark Falcon as a major prize, with smaller sets also in the mix.

We may hold a similar free competition in the future, albeit these will be very rare as we prefer to prioritise rewarding our subscription holders.

Email Address Changes

A short but important announcement - we are discontinuing our info@bricknews.co email address and all other @bricknews.co addresses. Our new primary email address is info@bricknews.com.au, which aligns better with our website URL of www.BrickNews.com.au, and makes more sense. Please be mindful of this when trying to contact us in the future.

Monthly Draw Lineup

The monthly draw lineup has been expanded! Here are the confirmed draw prizes:

  • September 2024 - LEGO 75397 Star Wars: Ultimate Collector's Series Jabba's Sail Barge.

  • October 2024 - (Free Month) LEGO 10333 Icons: The Lord of the Rings Barad-dûr.

  • November 2024 - LEGO 75367 Star Wars: Ultimate Collector's Series UCS Venator.

We're Looking for Writers

Noticed a lack of articles on Brick News lately? We're looking for volunteer writers that enjoy writing about different LEGO themes, general news, what's going on in the community and set reviews. Volunteer writers can't enter Brick News competitions, but they are eligible to receive occasional free sets to review - which they get to keep! Writers that have met certain requirements will also receive an exclusive Brick News Reporter polo shirt. If you're in high school or college and looking for something extra to add to your resume, this may appeal to you.

More Competitions Coming

We'll be starting more competitions on the forums with prizes available to subscription holders. There will also be occasional competitions on the forums and on Instagram that will have prizes available to users that do not hold subscriptions. However, I do want to make it clear that subscription holders are what funds Brick News and allows the company to exist, and therefore the majority of the unique competitions we host will be exclusive to subscription holders.

T-Shirts Available for Purchase or as Prizes

T-shirts have already been available for a while for private purchase by emailing us, however they will soon return to Brick News competitions as a prize. Prize shirts will only be available in Australia due to shipping constraints, but if you've won a LEGO set from us or you just love the brand and want to show your support, you can email us at info@bricknews.com.au and check if shipping is available to your country in the event that you're willing to pay extra.

Finishing Off

That about wraps up this letter! As Brick News grows and expands we'll continue to have more updates to our website and company. I want to thank all of our subscription holders both past and present for your continued support of our company. If you have any feedback of suggestions we invite you to email us or reply to this article via the comments section below.

Thanks again and take care,

Frase

Hi, I’m new here but was wondering how I sign up to be a volunteer writer and basically more information about the process.
