Just over two weeks ago we wrote a post, discussing the possibility that Nintendo was about to announce their first ever LEGO set from The Legend of Zelda franchise - The Great Deku Tree. So, imagine our shock a few days ago when LEGO's Official Instagram posted the reveal trailer for the set!
LEGO 77092 The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is an 18+ set that comes with 2500 pieces and will retail for a whopping $450 AUD. Unlike other franchises such as The Lord of the Rings, the set is not under the LEGO Icons theme, which increases the potential likelihood of Nintendo releasing more sets from the franchise.
While the first Zelda game released all the way back in February 1986, the franchise surged in popularity in 2017 with the launch of "Breath of the Wild", an open-world game that won multiple awards at the Game Awards 2017, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, and Best Action/Adventure Game. The LEGO set will feature a version of the Great Deku Tree from Breath of the Wild, as well as an Ocarina of Time version from the 1998 game.

While initial reception to the set was generally met with excitement, some fans were quick to point out the expensive price on social media. The set is targeted towards adults, with ads using the nostalgic 'The Legend of Zelda - Main Theme' to entice adult gamers to buy it. However, the $450 AUD price tag is certainly making some fans question if the set is really worth picking up.
Instagram comments from the official reveal on Instagram aren't exactly in LEGO's favour, at least when it comes to pricing... Image Source: LEGO's Instagram page.
Overall, the set looks awesome and is a must-buy for The Legend of Zelda fans, but maybe wait for a sale...
