The 4th of May is rapidly approaching, new LEGO Star Wars sets are about to drop and dozens of companies will stop at no avail to obnoxiously throw deals in your face at every chance they get. But where should you spend your money if you're considering picking up some LEGO sets on Star Wars Day? Let's answer that.
First off, let's cover what we know about LEGO's official May 4th deals. With purchases of $65 or more, you get a tiny AAT polybag. For a 75-piece set, this isn't great but it's something. What's more interesting is the new Trade Federation Troop Carrier. At 262 pieces, this set is worth about $45 and contains 2 Pilot Battle Droids and 6 Standard Battle Droids. Due to the popularity of the prequels, this promotional set is likely to be highly sought after - so if you were already looking at spending $260 or more, this may be a good reason to purchase directly from LEGO.com.au rather than at a third-party store. Note both of these promotions will be available beginning May 1st, and could be sold out before May 4th!
There are also a few gimmick items such as the "Battle of Yavin Collectable", which isn't actually compatible with your LEGO bricks. Over the last few years, LEGO has released random collectables in a similar fashion, however many fans haven't been overly hyped or excited to receive something that is only connected to LEGO by branding (and nothing else).

Also worth noting is that "The Force of Creativity" book will be available for pre-order beginning on the 1st of May - but doesn't release until the 20th of July this year. It's unclear if there will be any exclusive minifigure or set inside the book, but one of LEGO's marketing images hints at a mini-TIE Fighter build and 25th Anniversary brick being included.

Typically LEGO's official website also hosts double VIP points (now called Insiders Points) for certain sets, as well as special discounts in the LEGO Insiders Rewards Center. We'll provide updates on these promotions via our Instagram page on the day, as they still haven't been announced yet.
