Last month we hosted our first ever 1-day-only build competition, where only 6 pieces could be used. Zachariah Moulden, the winner of the the competition, was kind enough to send through an email with his thought process when it came to making his build.

Zachariah with the dung beetle build that won him the competition, as well as the prize he received.
"My initial plan was to try and build a small robot, which then turned into a tiny horse, which then turned into an ant, which then became the dung beetle," he explained. "I also limited myself further to only using pieces in the 2024 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, as when I saw the email about the build comp that's all that was on my desk."

"As you can imagine I kept checking the votes every couple of hours and was absolutely thrilled to see that I had won, and to get such a large set for such a small bug still blows my mind."
Zachariah is preparing to move in order to attend university, and while he may not be able to participate in as many build competitions anymore, he may be able to give it a go if Brick News hosts more limited piece-count build competitions in the future (which we will).
Congratulations again to Zachariah and best of luck at uni!
Woah, that’s awesome, dude! The fact that it’s literally extra pieces makes it all the better! Congratulations 🎉
